2019 Dodge Charget RT Scat Pack 1320 Review

A new variant of the all-conquering Dodge called the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is on its way. The announcement was made at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals to a sea of fans. Needless to say, the news went down well.
The snappily-titled 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is going to squeeze as much performance out of its 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine as possible while still maintaining reliability and control. To achieve this, it is something of a hybrid of all the Challengers that have gone before.
Challenger hybrid
The 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is apparently named as such as there are 1,320 feet in a quarter mile. It is this quarter mile time that this variant is aiming for.
To achieve that, it uses the eight speed transmission with TransBrake and line lock from the Challenger Demon. It will also have Torque Reserve and adaptive dampers with Drag Mode, Nexen SUR4G Drag Spec 275/40R20 tires and 41-spline rear axle half shafts. There will also be the headlamp air intake from the Hellcat and an Angry Bee logo instead of the Angry Kitten.
All these elements combine to allow the car to wind up as much as possible ready for a fast launch over a quarter mile. The tires are designed to require minimal warm up and will deform to provide maximum grip. TransBrake and Torque Reserve allow the car to maintain position under full load until launch, again, to maximize a fast start.
It will not have front or rear seats, although you can add them for $1 each. There is no supercharger either. This will be a normally aspirated 6.4-litre Hemi V8 that delivers 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.
With a lower weight thanks to no seating and tune for drag strips, this car is expected to achieve a quarter mile time of around 11.7 seconds. That’s a top speed of 115 over the distance.
How will this all translate onto the road? We don’t know yet as the order books have yet to open and reviews have yet to happen. Presumably you will need to change the tires to road legal specifications and save those Drag Spec tires for the strip. Otherwise, the car should be just fine on the road. We shall just have to wait and see what those first tests have to say!
