Armoured AWD Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Appreciation Post

As if the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat couldn’t get any cooler, along comes a fully armoured version ready for life as a cop car. This fast Dodge has been given the armoured treatment by a US company called Armomax and it is something to behold.

Armorax, who says they ‘manufacture the finest, most technologically advanced armored passenger vehicles in the world,’ are obviously not shy. Neither are they short changing the cop car by the looks of it. This car may be a little over the top for Canada but is some areas of the US, this is going to be a game changer.

Armoured Dodge Charger

The company has taken a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and have added ballistic glass, bulletproof panels, run-flat tires, cop lighting, carbon fibre trim and decals, a new paint job and a whole lot more.

The new bulletproof panels are rated to stop a high velocity bullet from a rifle and is comprised of ‘light synthetic fiber laminates and air hardened, heat treated ballistic alloys’. The body shell is protected, the engine bay is protected, the fuel tank and the roof are also protected. The car also has ballistic glass for all round protection.

The company offers armouring up to a level they call B7 which protects from armour piercing rounds. Ideal for areas where the rule of law is somewhat lacking. The usual police upgrades are also included, beefed up suspension, uprated brakes, front bash bar and more powerful electrics system to drive all the extra gear.

AWD

The eagle-eyed among you may have paid more attention to the AWD part of the AWD Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the title. Dodge don’t offer AWD as standard on the Charger but Armomax will build it for you. As well as the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine that delivers 707 hp and all this protection, you can have four wheel drive to help you cope with pursuits, poor conditions or anything life throws at you.

Perhaps once FCA see how effective AWD can be on a Charger they may decide to offer it as an option. We can live in hope I guess.

The look of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has been retained but with some neat upgrades. If you see this thing lit up in your rear view mirror you had better hope it pulls out and drives past otherwise you’re in real trouble!

Unfortunately, the AWD Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is only available to police forces right now. Prices are by quotation only but you can expect to pay six figures for a fully armoured car at the very least.
