A Look At The Brand New 2021 Kia K7

A Look At The Brand New 2021 Kia K7

It has been a busy week for Kia. The beginning of the week saw the 2020 Kia Seltos teased and now we are further teased with an image of the new K7. Then, the new 2021 Kia Sorento was spied being tested at altitude in the Alps.

I spoke at length about the 2020 Kia Seltos and where it would sit in the lineup. The teaser image of the K7, which is slated to replace the Kia Cadenza offers a further glimpse into Kia’s design ideas and plans for the future.

While you can only infer so much from a preview image, the K7 looks smart!

Kia K7

The Kia K7 looks a lot more contemporary and sporty than the existing sedan. It looks like the tiger nose has had a redesign along with the lighting, lower sill and overall shape. While this is a sketch and not a production model, if the new car looks anything like this, it’s going to do extremely well.

The profile is very smooth, with a low front, sweeping over the windshield over a curved roof and onto a subtle rear end. That rear has a little BMW 7-series about it but looks very nice. A single light bar spans the width of that rear with a pair of tailpipes moulded into the lower fascia.

2021 Kia Sorento

The 2021 Kia Sorento is on a different tack entirely. While heavily camouflaged, the images over at Autoblog show a very upright looking SUV with a roomy interior, attractive shape and some changes up front and at the rear. Again, we cannot see specifics because of that camouflage but there are some shape differences.

The most intriguing thing about all of those images is that it has enough power to pull a heavy BMW X5 at altitude!

The Sorento has just had a refresh but this model could offer more. We know Kia have plans for revamping their SUV lineup both in terms of design and performance but we don’t know exactly what as yet. With the Sorento being a big seller in some countries, a light touch may be in order to keep sales strong. I would expect a hybrid or mild hybrid option at some point though.

The current 2019 Kia Sorento is a strong contender for capable SUV that can go anywhere and do anything.
