Get Ready For The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor in Canada

The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor in Canada has been hinted at and rumoured for the longest time and now it’s official, it is coming to north America in 2023.
Speculation began as soon as Ford announced the original Ranger. It was inevitable really, given people’s penchant for a more extreme truck.
The F-150 Raptor has been a firm favourite of those that like to go fast on the rough stuff and this version offers a similar experience with a smaller footprint.
According to Ford, this is an all-new version of the truck, signalling the second generation of the Ranger.
2023 Ford Ranger Raptor design
It looks similar but has obviously been beefed up to cope with hitting the rough at speed.
The designers haven’t gone overboard though.
You’ll see the front bumper has been beefed up and changed to offer a shorter overhang. You’ll also see a much more substantial skid pan underneath to protect the engine and sump.
You’ll also see a bolder grille with Ford across it and larger wheel arches to cope with bigger tires.
There also seems to be a shorter overhang at the rear too.
Otherwise, changes seem minimal and we think that’s a good thing.
Inside the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor
We don’t know much about the interior of the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor as yet.
We do know it will include 12.4 inch digital instruments and 12 inch touchscreen. It is highly likely, this will include Ford Sync 4 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The digital instruments in other models are fully configurable depending on the information you want to see.
Under the skin
As far as we know, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor has upgraded Fox Live Valve shocks with bottom-out control.
There is also a new drive mode system that includes Normal, Sport, Slippery, Rock Crawl, Sand and Mud/Ruts as drive modes.
These modes apparently adjust everything from throttle response, shift speed and how much safety systems like ABS interfere with your experience.
There is also an exhaust mode selector that allows you to select different sound profiles for the exhaust.
Under the hood is a 3.0-litre V6 engine that has been tuned to 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Europeans will get a lower output version to allow the engine to meet their more stringent emission standards. Their Raptor will generate just 284 hp and 362 lb-ft. Still enough to have fun, just not to the extremes we will be able to enjoy it.
The Europeans will also get a diesel version, but we won’t.
All variants will use Ford’s silky 10 speed automatic transmission to send power to all four wheels via a two-speed transfer case.
On paper, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor has everything we would look for in a performance truck. We’re glad we are getting the higher output engine, but even 284 hp in a truck of this size would provide plenty of fun!
The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is due early next year so expect more teasers and updates between now and then.
