Taking a Look at the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler

Ford has announced a new truck for the 2023 model year, the 2023 F-150 Ford Rattler.
It is intended to be a lower cost truck with a rugged look to attract a new segment of buyers not yet seduced by this truck’s charms.
With the two existing rugged trucks, the Tremor and Raptor costing a lot more than a standard truck, the Rattler is designed to fill the gap.
“Our new F-150 Rattler offers aspiring adventurers an off-road option with expressive looks and capability in one package,” said Todd Eckert, marketing manager of Ford truck group.
“This truck builds off the F-150 off-road legacy, while allowing us to introduce new customers to the right blend of styling and value in the F-150 lineup.”
Ford Rattler
The 2023 F-150 Ford Rattler apparently builds on the XL 4x4 version and adds goodies from other models to add interest.
It has skid plates, locking rear differential, off road shocks and hill descent control from the FX4.
It also gets new 18 inch aluminium wheels, dual exhaust and unique Rattler badging and trim.
There are also unique interior trim elements, coloured accents for upholstery and unique trim around the instruments.
The rest of the truck will continue the standard features of the F-150 XL, which makes it a known and predictable package, a good thing for buyers.
The Ford F-150 XL
The F-150 XL is one of the cheaper trucks in the lineup but still delivers the authentic F-150 experience.
It comes with a 12” touchscreen, Ford Sync 4, voice control, SOS Post Crash Alert System, 4G connectivity, WiFi and other good stuff.
There are three engine options, the 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, 3.3-litre V6 and the 5.0-litre V8. All come with Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission.
You can select a regular cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew configuration with up to 3 truck bed sizes.
You also get steel wheels, roll stability control, Ford Co-Pilot360 features, daytime running lights, cloth trim and steel wheels.
You can upgrade as much as you like, switching from RWD to AWD, adding media, safety features and a whole range of Ford goodies.
If you have ever looked at the F-150 options list, you’ll find a good number of those options available for the Ford F-150 XL.
A Truck For The Times
Now is a good time to release a lower cost version of any model. Times are tight, inflation is high and gas prices are increasing all the time.
Any opportunity to save money will be welcome by those with no choice but to buy a new truck for work or whatever.
If that truck happens to look as good as this, has decent off road ability and can still perform all the things we need a truck to do, all the better!
The 2023 F-150 Ford Rattler seems to be to be the right truck at the right time. It isn’t a barebones bargain truck, but offers a decent spec for a decent price.
This is definitely the way to go, in my opinion at least.
