The new Ford F-150 Raptor has not only finished the punishing Baja 1000 endurance race, it is now featuring in its own VR movie. Ford have put together their own VR application and are now filling it with content, one of which is a short movie about the Ford F-150 Raptor.

Called Born to Baja, the movie naturally covers the Ford F-150 Raptor and its preparation for the race. The completely road legal truck completed the 800 mile race last November. Unfortunately, there is only 20 seconds or so of race footage, which would have made a much more entertaining movie. On the upside, it has a voiceover from the awesome Denis Leary.

With only a few modifications, the F-150 Raptor completed the race without any significant issue. The main modifications made were to make it race legal and included a full roll cage, racing seats, racing harness and strengthened fuel cell. The rest is all available from your local Ford dealer.

Here is the video. You need the Ford VR app to see it at its best.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has been completely redesigned from the ground up. The truck we initially thought couldn’t be bettered has been. It is now lighter, stronger and more capable than ever and is still more than a little exciting too.

The chassis is much stronger than before, the Fox shocks have been upgraded, the truck has new wheels, new engine, new interior and pretty much new everything. It looks good too, especially in that metallic blue colour.

Under the hood is a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 that has been tuned and tweaked so it delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It delivers that to all wheels through a 10 speed automatic transmission. Six different driving modes, Normal, Sport, Weather, Mud & Sand, Baja, Rock Crawl, give different driving characteristics at the touch of a button.

On the inside, the cabin gets better materials and a similar design as before, just better. The seats are more comfortable and more supportive. The controls are more responsive and the twin sunroof lets in more light. Visibility from that high up is pretty good too.

I haven’t gotten to drive the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor yet but it is definitely on my list. If you like trucks, it should definitely be on your list too. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 and book your test drive!
