Ram Rebel TRX Concept

Ram Rebel TRX Concept

640 × 426
I like the Ram Rebel. It competes with the Ford Raptor in terms of looks, power and pure fun and looks great without all the chrome. So I immediately liked the Ram Rebel TRX Concept when I saw it at the 2016 State Fair of Texas. Yes it’s just a concept right now but this new Ram truck NEEDS to hit production.

The Ram Rebel TRX Concept is based on the veritable Ram 1500. You can still see the original truck underneath all the changes but this new TRX is something completely new. With a 6.2-litre V8 engine delivering 575 hp through an eight speed automatic transmission, this is one powerful truck. It uses a specially tuned version of the Hellcat engine to deliver all that power along with lots of tweaks to make it work.

As well as the engine, there is an uprated 4×4 Performance Control System, 44-45 Borg Warner transfer case and Dynatrac 60 axle. Uprated suspension all round helps keep the truck on the road and help it perform off road. Big six piston brakes from Baer help tame that horsepower alongside a set of huge discs.

Here is the reveal video.

The exterior is almost as impressive as the mechanicals. It looks a bit like the Night Special Edition with all the chrome replaced by black trim, black front grille and extra pieces of trim everywhere. The hood and fender curves down to meet that front end and offers a bulging hood profile that really looks the part.

Huge wheels and tyres give is a real presence down the side while wheels arches and side tailpipes add even more cool to the design. The rear is the most understated aspect of the truck, with a simple rear with the Ram logo and some tow hooks being the only real design features.

As you would expect from Ram, the interior is top class. With black suede and material throughout, it manages to blend comfort and a definite sporty theme. Body coloured stitching, fully kitted out mats and six point harnesses in bucket-type seats all mean business. The dashboard is no-nonsense with the standard 1500 dash just done in different trim. The centre stack has an 8.4 inch touchscreen with Uconnect and a 7 inch display in with the instruments too.

I hope the Ram Rebel TRX Concept makes it to production even if in slightly diluted form. The world is most definitely ready for more performance trucks and I think if anything is going to take the crown away from the Raptor, this is it.
