Nissan Terra SUV coming soon?

Nissan Terra SUV coming soon?

640 × 480
Nissan may be planning to release a new midsize SUV to market next year. Potentially called the Nissan Terra, the new body-on-frame vehicle has been leaked from a Chinese website and may fit nicely into Nissan’s North American lineup. With the Nissan Rogue and Armada selling well, could a smaller SUV fill a gap in the market?

Chinese site Sina Weibo have leaked what they think is Nissan’s next SUV. A three row, seven seat full size SUV that will slide nicely into their North American lineup should it make it to our shores. There is definitely room for it in dealerships. With an increasing appetite for crossovers and SUVs, plus Nissan’s slowly growing market share in these models, it is perhaps the ideal time to add another vehicle.

We don’t know much about the Nissan Terra as yet. Just that it will be a body-on-frame construction, three rows with seven seats. The Chinese version will apparently have a 2.5-litre four cylinder engine but we don’t know much else.

It is likely that the new vehicle will be based on the global Navarra platform like the Xterra and Frontier pickup of old. This could be a great option for Nissan as the Xterra went down well with buyers both urban and suburban. The Frontier didn’t do too badly either if memory serves and a midsize successor would slot in nicely under the Titan.

Some kind of reveal is set for the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. We shall keep an eye on that and let you know what we find out.

2018 Nissan Armada
The 2018 Nissan Armada is an accomplished full size SUV that is very easy to drive despite it’s size. With lots of power on tap, excellent levels of build quality and luxury and competitive pricing, the Armada is a great option if you need the space.

The Armada uses the same platform as the Infiniti QX80 and can comfortably seat 8 people. With optional captain’s chairs in the second row and a very customizable feature list, this is a very flexible vehicle that can be configured to your exact needs.

The 5.6-litre V8 engine on all models is very capable. It delivers 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque and uses a seven speed automatic transmission to power the rear wheels. AWD is of course an option in this SUV.

Despite its size, the 2018 Nissan Armada is very easy to drive. With a short-ish turning circle, great visibility all round and great brakes, the SUV is good in town or out in the wilderness. With lots of cargo space and the ability to tow up to 8,500 pounds, there isn’t much this vehicle cannot do.

While we don’t know much about the Nissan Terra yet, we do know a lot about the 2018 Nissan Armada. We know enough to say confidently that if you want a capable full size SUV, this is definitely one to try.
