Inside view of the Ford Focus RS RX

As regular readers may have noticed, we here at Car Nation Canada love a good video of the cars we sell showing off their speed and prowess. When that car is a Ford performance model, all the better. So it is with great pleasure that we share with you this week’s video of choice, the Ford Focus RS RX.

The video, entitled ‘Project RX Episode 1: Design and Development’ Goes behind the scenes of the development of Ford’s next rally car, the Ford Focus RS RX.

The car looks awesome and although it has already debuted at the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Portugal, we have yet to see it in action aside from in this video. Ford says the development of the Ford Focus RS RX was a joint effort between Ford Performance, Ken Block's Hoonigan Racing and UK-based M-Sport.

We knew Ken Block was involved as we saw a hint of the Ford Focus RS RX at the end of his Gymkhana 8 video.

The Ford Focus RS RX has a turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that has been tuned to 600 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. It has permanent four wheel drive and lots of rally kit that enables it to perform almost supernaturally well on the rough stuff. With a 0 – 60 time of under 2 seconds, it is simply awesome!

2016 Ford Focus RS
The 2016 Ford Focus RS is the latest hot hatch to grace our roads from Ford. It looks lean, keen and very definitely mean in all the right places. It looks amazing, with a big body kit, wide stance, low pose and big alloy wheels.

At first glance, the 2.3-litre four cylinder seems a little underwhelming. Read the small print however and things become much more interesting. With 345 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque on tap in a car that weighs less than most, plus an overboost function that pushes power up to 347 hp for a few seconds, the 2016 Ford Focus RS is suddenly a very hot hatch indeed.

Yet with all of that power, the drive and ambition of the car is to genuinely be all things to all drivers. Keep the pedal light and it’s an urban cruiser, school run runabout with a hatch-trunk large enough for groceries. Get out on the open road, or better still on an open track and that character changes completely. I would own one if I could, it is that good.

To arrange a test drive of the hottest of all hot hatches, visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2!
