Hennessey Velociraptor 600: A Closer Look

Hennessey Velociraptor 600: A Closer Look

640× 350
I do try to keep the Car Nation Canada blog fairly sensible most of the time, but occasionally I just cannot help featuring something a little out there. Today is one of those times and I cannot help but mention the Hennessey VelociRaptor 600. Built on my favourite truck, the Ford F-150 Raptor, this truck is out there.

If you like your vehicles, you will know the Hennessey name very well by know. Texan tuner John Hennessey has been playing with fast Fords for years and the Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 is his latest creation. Based on the Raptor, Hennessey has taken the twin turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine and turned it up to 11.

From the stock 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 now has 605 hp and 622 lb-ft of torque. They achieve that figure with bigger turbos, better airflow through the engine, larger intercooler and quite a number of other tweaks.

There is also the option to have unique LED lighting, special 20 inch wheels with 35 inch off-road tires, heavy duty bodywork and a few other goodies. The upgrade costs an extra $22,500 US over the cost of the Raptor so if you’re in the market for something special, you know what to do.

2017 Ford F-150

The 2017 Ford F-150 introduces the new 10 speed automatic transmission that adds a silky smoothness to the drive. Combined with the updated 3.5-litre V6 they make for a formidable pair on an already excellent truck. With more trims and options that you could ever need, there really is an F-150 for everyone.

Whether you haul, tow or just like driving a truck, there is a lot to love about the F-150. The design is bang up to date while still keeping that masculine ruggedness we all know and love. The interior is better than ever with top quality materials, lots of interior space and plenty of practical features.

Towing, hauling and carrying are all taken care of with a decent sized load bed and hauling capacity.

Add to all that the everyday practicality of a truck that is easy to drive and park and you have quite the package. It compares exceptionally well to my other favourite, the Ram 1500 in every way and even edges it slightly in terms of kerb appeal.

If you want a go anywhere, do anything truck, the 2017 Ford F-150 is it. If you’re looking for a truck that can pace a Porsche 911 at the lights, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 is it.
