First 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt sells for $300k

640 × 295
The first production 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt has been sold at auction for $300,000 US. This beautiful Ford was driven into the auction by Molly McQueen, Steve’s granddaughter, the vehicle drew gasps from the crowd when it arrived. The first model, VIN001, sold for a serious amount of money considering the production model should be much cheaper.

We don’t yet know the price of the other production models but at least we now know what we will be getting for that investment.

2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt
Based on the Mustang GT, the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt will be available in Dark Highland Green or Shadow Black. Dark Highland Green was the original colour from the movie but you would always want a black option for a car like this. Both will have a black interior with green trim and a cue ball shifter knob like the movie. The instruments are taken from the standard Mustang GT but this time light green with a profile of the car.

On the outside, the chrome has been pared right back. A new black grille, original aluminium wheels with black centres and Bullitt on the gas cap. The Mustang shape needs no introduction here. With a black front splitter, black grille and angled lights, the Mustang looks like it means business from the front and from all angles.

Here is a purely gratuitous video showing the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt in action:

Under the hood is the same engine as the GT, the Coyote 5.0-litre V8 that delivers 475 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It has been tweaked with new throttle bodies, new intake manifold, new induction system and a new performance control module. It will also feature an active exhaust to provide that burble we remember so well from the movie.

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt is manual only too. A six speed manual transmission with that cue ball knob is the only way to drive such a car and we couldn’t agree more. Automatics are fine around town or for commuting, but this is a driver’s car. That means it should only be a manual and should leave as much as possible up to the driver. Plus, it means double de-clutching, which is something we all have wanted to try at some point!

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt is going to be a limited production model that will be available later this year.
