2021 Ford F-150 Tremor in Canada: A Closer Look

2021 Ford F-150 Tremor in Canada: A Closer Look

If the FX4 isn’t enough and the Raptor a little too much, the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor could be perfect. It’s an off road truck with a ton of suspension and running gear upgrades to ensure there really is nowhere this Ford cannot go.

The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor looks like a standard truck that rides a little higher. There is a unique grille with an orange line and black Ford oval badge that marks it out for you if you pay attention.

Spend a little longer looking at the Tremor and you notice a slightly more bulging hood, modest front and rear badging and orange recovery hooks at the front.

Subtle differences

Along with some unique side steps, new wheels and new exhaust cutouts, you have to look carefully to see this is a different truck.

Once inside, it’s much more obvious something is different. There is Active Orange trim everywhere, a laser-etched American flag, some Tremor badging and a new bank of switches by the roof liner for any winches or lights you might add.

Suspension and running gear

The meat of the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor is underneath. It comes with uprated monotube shocks and springs up front and twin tube versions at the back. There is more ground clearance and the shocks have been designed to offer soft damping at low speeds to help keep tires on the ground.

There is also a new skid plate to protect the engine and 33 inch General Grabber off road tires with special Tremor wheels. The Tremor uses the Raptor transfer case and a rear locking differential. An optional Torsen differential will be available as an option.

The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor sits higher and wider than a standard truck, ideal for stability and for getting in and out of the rough stuff.

If you want specifics, the truck has an extra 1.5 inches of ground clearance in the rear and one inch up front. As a result, the truck also has an approach angle of 27.6 degrees, breakover angle of 21.2 degrees and departure angle of 24.3 degrees.

Engine and drivetrain

The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor uses Ford’s 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine. This is the new version that delivers 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The ubiquitous 10 speed automatic transmission send the power to the wheels.

The Tremor is only available as a SuperCrew with a 5.5 foot load bed. It comes with a 2.0kW onboard generator is available with dual 120V 20A outlets in the bed too.

The Tremor also comes with Ford's Trail Toolbox. It includes rock crawl mode, trail control, one pedal acceleration and braking and torque vectoring to make off road easy.

The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor is due summer 2021. Contact Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to learn more.
