Will Lincoln replace the MKZ with Zephyr?

Will Lincoln replace the MKZ with Zephyr?

640 × 480
There are rumours doing the rounds right now that Lincoln are planning to capitalize on their success with a success to the MKZ sedan. Those same rumours mention the Zephyr nameplate, although there has been no official word from Lincoln as yet.

The MKZ is due for replacement within the next year or two and Lincoln have hinted that they will replace it with another sedan rather than going all in on crossovers and SUVs like Ford. That would be good news if true as there is still quite the appetite for sedans if our experience is anything to go by.
The rumours mention the new vehicle using the 2020 Explorer platform and doing away with the current Ford Fusion underpinnings. As the Fusion is going too, that’s a good move.
With the MKC being replaced by the Corsair, Lincoln is ditching the three letter naming convention in favour or real names. That’s a good move too as it’s easier to build a relationship or emotional connection with a real word than with an acronym or random combination of letters.
I hope this becomes real as the new Lincolns really are something else!
2019 Lincoln MKZ
The 2019 Lincoln MKZ is a good looking sedan worthy of the Lincoln badge. With a refined design, competent engines and good levels of luxury, it has all the ingredients necessary for a luxury daily driver.
The design is very simple yet very effective. It’s a rounded design with curved hood, raked windshield, curved roof, rounded trunk and subtle rear with light bar across the centre. Panels have a single beltline running down its length and a small grille at the front is one of the few signs this is a Lincoln.
Inside, it couldn’t be anything else. A spacious cabin, luxurious materials, great quality finishing and very comfortable seating are exactly what you look for in a Lincoln. There is light and space aplenty while you can have as much or as little technology as you like.
Under that curved hood is one of three engine options. The first is a turbocharged four cylinder, a 2.0-litre that produces 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Next is a hybrid 2.0-litre with two electric motors and 188 hp output. Finally, the 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 400 hp with AWD. All use a six speed automatic transmission.
The 2019 Lincoln MKZ is safe too with a five star safety rating. Depending on the trim you choose, you can have automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warnings, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, a rearview camera and backup sensors all coming as standard on most trims.
The current 2019 Lincoln MKZ is a great car and offers fantastically comfortable driving for a very reasonable cost. Check it out at Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
