Kia EV6 revealed

After just a few days of being teased, Kia revealed a whole lot more about their brand new electric vehicle, the EV6. Rather than just teaser images, we now see the vehicle in all its glory and boy, does it look good!
The Kia EV6 is the Korean automaker’s first release using its new dedicated E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform. While we have images, we have a couple of weeks to wait until the full reveal.
“EV6, as the first dedicated Kia EV, is a showcase of human-centered, progressive design and electrified power,” said Karim Habib, senior vice president and head of Global Design Center.
“With EV6 we aimed to create a distinctive, impactful design by using a combination of sophisticated, high-tech features on pure and rich volumes, while providing a unique space as a futuristic EV.”
We know what the Kia EV6 will look like now and we like it! It’s a very futuristic design yet is firmly grounded in the present. It uses a sleek form with rounded edges and a very aero profile to help with range.
The front end is nice to look at. It has a very narrow grille as no air is required for the motor except for a little cooling. The modest lights angle down fluidly to meet the grille while also flowing out to meet the fender.
A modest lower sill offers more air intake and then modest detailing down the side keeps things slippery. The little flourish by the lower sill keeps it interesting, as does the sloping roofline down to the rear.
At the back, a single light bar covers the entire width of the car and the roof slopes down and the rear diffuser slopes up to meet in the middle. It’s a very composed design that is restrained and forward looking at the same time.
Inside the EV6
There are also images of the interior of the Kia EV6. It’s a very simple cabin with sumptuous materials and a restrained dashboard. Digital controls keep you informed and a simple round steering wheel has little to distract.
Simple but elegant.
There is a genuine feeling of quality in the cabin that is obvious even from images. It’s simple but effective with the same simplicity and flow as the exterior along with plenty of technology.
We don’t know too much about the motor and range yet. Kia has hinted that there will be a single electric motor capable of the equivalent of 218 hp. There will be two battery packs, one 58kWh and the other 72.6kWh. Kia said to expect 300 miles of range with the larger pack.
You will be able to charge your EV6 from 120v outlets all the way up to 800v quick chargers. Charging time will be from 18 minutes from 10-80% charge using an 800v charger.
Kia is planning a full reveal on March 30, although we know most of what’s coming already. We presume the order books will open shortly after.
