J.D. Power ranks Nissan Murano as top Midsize SUV 2016

J.D. Power is a big name in consumer reviews. Alongside Consumer Reports, this organisation does a lot of work measuring and assessing the auto industry to give consumers the information they need to make informed choices. That’s why we are so excited that they awarded the Nissan Murano the top spot in the midsize SUV category.

The Nissan Murano outperformed some stiff competition from the likes of the Toyota Venza and 4Runner, Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Crosstour, Subaru Outback and the Ford Edge to place first. It’s a serious accolade for any car and we are rightly proud to sell it.

2016 Nissan Murano
The 2016 Nissan Murano is a very modern take on the SUV. With slick styling, generous interior space, superior build quality and the reliability you expect from Nissan, the Murano doesn’t disappoint.

The design is cutting-edge but not so much that it will date quickly. The sloping front end is all business, yet has a softer side that will appeal to a wide audience. There is a lot of detailing on the exterior that gives the Murano quite a sophisticated presence. We think it has real curb appeal.

The cabin is exactly what you would expect. Top class build quality, plenty of technology and great visibility. Nissan decided to keep two rows of seats instead of expanding to three and we think that was a good move. It ensures all passengers get enough space to ride in comfort rather than being shoehorned in to an extra row.

Under the hood of the 2016 Nissan Murano is a capable 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. It uses a CVT transmission to send power to the front or all wheels.

There are four trim levels for the 2016 Nissan Murano, S, SV, SL and Platinum. FWD and AWD is available across the range. Even in base trim there is a lot on offer, including 18 inch alloy wheels, LED running lights, auto lighting, rear privacy glass, cruise control, climate control, reversing camera, 7 inch display, smartphone integration, satellite radio and a six speaker audio system.

Move up the levels and you can have everything from heated and ventilated seats, navigation, leather interior, panoramic sunroof, 360 degree cameras and automatic emergency braking to name just a few of the many features on offer.

The 2016 Nissan Murano is a solid performer and it seems J.D. Power agrees. If you’re in the market for a midsize SUV, come try the best. Visit Collins Nissan, 155 Scott Street, St. Catharines, Ontario, L2N 1H3 for a test drive.
