Your Ford Explorer contains unlikely recycled materials

Your Ford Explorer contains unlikely recycled materials

According to Ford, Explorers from 2011 onwards feature three
unlikely recycled materials in with the new stuff that makes up our favourite
SUV. The seats are where most of them material goes but the sound insulation is
also recycled. It’s a great move and one that will only accelerate as new
materials are developed.

Did you know that your Ford Explorer contains soy?
Apparently the seat cushions and backs are made from recycled soy products. The
fabric bolster within each seat is also made of recycled yarn from industrial

The sound insulation is also recycled. The thin material
that insulated body panels from road and external noise is actually made from
recycled jeans. Both jeans and offcuts are apparently used to make the sound
deadening material. Ingenious!

All of the details on Ford’s recycled materials can be found
on their blog.
The video describing it is below.

2016 Ford Explorer

The 2016 Ford Explorer brought with it many updates. It
introduced new exterior features, new interior trim, new technology, revised
suspension and brought the Platinum trim. There is also a new four cylinder
EcoBoost engine to widen the lineup.

The Explorer is one of the best looking SUVs on the market.
The design is modern, yet appealing, masculine yet soft. It’s the ideal balance
between rugged potential and urban reality. It’s one of the reasons it is
selling so well.

Under the hood is either a 3.5-litre V6 that produces 290 hp
and 255 lb-ft of torque, a 2.3-litre turbo four that produces 270 hp and 300
lb-ft of torque or a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 that produces 365 hp and 350 lb-ft
of torque. All use a six speed automatic transmission to send power to the
front or all wheels.

The 2016 Ford Explorer is available in base, XLT, Limited,
Sport and Platinum trims. The base model offers 18 inch alloy wheels, automatic
lighting, LED lighting, rear privacy glass, roof rails, reversing camera,
climate control, cruise control, 4.2 inch display, Ford Sync and six speaker

From there, Ford makes available a dizzying array of options
and included equipment that covers everything from panoramic sunroof to
navigation and literally, everything in-between. Adaptive cruise control, leather
interior, Sony audio, power folding mirrors and heated and ventilated seats are
just a few of the highlights available.

The 2016 Ford Explorer is a great looking, great performing
SUV and gets our vote every  time. See if
