Will there be a 2020 Dodge Charger Widebody?

Will there be a 2020 Dodge Charger Widebody?

640 × 480
Rumours abound right now that the 2020 Dodge Charger might get a widebody version for that model year. It may feature as a package for both the R/T Scat Pack and the SRT Hellcat next year and traction is gaining for the story even if Dodge have yet to officially confirm it.

Lots of outlets are talking about the potential 2020 Dodge Charger Widebody but that has not been any official comment as yet. The rumour is that the kit will only be available on the R/T Scat Pack and the SRT Hellcat models and will be of similar dimensions to that of the Challenger. The Challenger version widens the platform 3.5 inches for a surprising difference in visual appeal.

This wider stance allows the fitting of wider tires and perhaps a different suspension setup. Tires alone can seriously improve grip and road handling while suspension can change the ride characteristics of the car. I think tires would be enough as the Charger drives exceptionally well anyway.

This is pure speculation right now but it is gaining pace. Until FCA or someone in an official capacity comments, I’m leaving it as rumour only right now. But it’s a good one!

2019 Dodge Charger
The 2019 Dodge Charger continues the iconic looks with mild updates. It remains a chunky yet handsome car that is driven and enjoyed as much by law enforcement as the general public.

The design is its signature and allows it to stand apart from but still compete with the bigger Challenger. It’s a solid car that can drive smoothly when you need it to and throatily when you want it to. Even with smaller engines, it is always a pleasure to drive.

The range consists of SXT, SXT AWD, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat trims. They begin sensible with a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. There are then three V8 engines on offer, the 5.7-litre V8 that generates 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, the 6.4-litre V8 with 485 hp and the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that generates an awesome 707 hp.

All use a variety of automatic and manual transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels.

The 2019 Dodge Charger is not about pure power though. The US NHTSA scores the Charger five stars for safety while the IIHS scores it ‘Good’. Models can include rearview camera, six airbags, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitors, forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking.

Whether a widebody is coming or not, the 2019 Dodge Charger is an aspirational car within reach of most of us. Check it out at Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8.
