Three-Row Jeep Wagoneer | Burlington

Jeep have confirmed they are preparing a new three-row SUV model for the 2015 year. It will be called either the Great Wagoneer or just Wagoneer, it seems they haven’t quite made their mind up yet.

What they do know is that it will be a premium SUV designed to take on the likes of the Range Rover and BMW X5. Some of you may remember the Wagoneer name from the 1960s. It seems the heritage nameplate is being brought back to adorn this new machine.

The new SUV will supersede the Grand Cherokee as the range-topper and will likely try to steal buyers from the many manufacturers producing premium SUVs, including our own automakers as well as those of Europe and Asia. That’s quite a tall order, especially as many automakers have long and trusted histories in making this kind of vehicle.

The Jeep Cherokee is a firm favourite of ours and sells well within our dealerships. The new diesel engine is proving more popular than initially thought too. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine produces 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Sourced from Fiat, this motor also features in a slightly modified form in the Ram 1500 and is proving equally popular there too.

With excellent low down torque, a decent 28 miles to the gallon and a silky smooth TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, it’s a winning combination in anyone’s eyes. The engine is quite, silky and a dream to drive. Ideal for a heavy SUV.

The new Jeep Great Wagoneer or Wagoneer will have three rows of seats that will accommodate up to seven adults. It has been slated to receive all the latest Jeep updates and include the best cabin Jeep can possibly manufacture in order to compete.

The new vehicle is being prepared for 2015 and will feature in one of the major U.S. shows early next year. Availability is as yet unknown but it isn’t unreasonable to believe a fall or late 2015 entry to market.

As Car Nation Canada are Jeep specialists, we will naturally be keeping a very close eye on proceedings. As soon as we know anything concrete, we’ll share it here with you!
