This is what the 2021 Kia Optima could look like

I mentioned the 2021 Kia Optima a couple of weeks ago when Kia said they would be showcasing the K5 in Korea. Well, they did and we now have a good look at what the North American version of the Optima could look like.
If you haven’t guessed, Kia calls the Optima the K5 in its home market and this new version is the latest release in the Korean automaker’s new model schedule. The image above is the official release image from Kia so is exactly what buyers in Korea can expect. While there are likely to be a few changes for the North American market, we expect the overall design to be very similar, if not exactly the same.
2021 Kia Optima
The design has the air of a Dodge about it combined with new Alfa Romeo designs. It’s a curious mix of aero with a blunt front end and grille ridge above the bumper and under the hood. The angled lights and panel detailing by the brake vents looks very cool, as does the headlight and running light arrangement.
The steeply raked windshield and curved roof gives a fastback profile with the practicalities of a sedan inside, hopefully. The wheels are also cool, rear end is simple and tidy with the full width LED light bar. The overall design is very slick indeed.
We only have a rendering of the interior and not a press shot. It seems a very streamlined cabin with minimal controls and smart screens for instruments and centre panel. As it’s only a rendering, we won’t know what it looks like for real for a little while yet.
We also don’t know anything about engines or drivetrains. However, Kia has scheduled the launch of the 2021 Kia Optima for December so we won’t have long to wait to see some of what’s in store.
2020 Kia Optima
The current 2020 Kia Optima is also a great design. It’s another great example of there being lots of life left in the sedan design yet and proves you don’t have to buy German to buy quality.
The 2020 Kia Optima is a midsize sedan that can comfortably fit adults in all seats. It’s a modern design that is both understated and stylish. It’s a very aero shape, with smooth lines, a linear flow from nose to tail and a very slick tiger nose grille. Inside, the sedan has lots of space, excellent levels of finishing, good quality materials and everything you look for in a new car.
The three engines all provide steady power delivery through the rev range. Even the non-turbo engines have decent torque and have enough power for any situation. The Optima Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid both offer the same standard of drive with added green credentials.
The Kia Optima is an excellent option for many situations. Check it out at Georgetown Kia, 199 and 314 Guelph Street, Georgetown, Ontario.
