Shelby Announces 2015 Mustang Super Snake

Shelby Announces 2015 Mustang Super Snake

Shelby American has done it again. They have announced yet another performance car that takes one of our favourites and turns it into a snarling, fire breathing super version of itself. This time, they have announced a Mustang they are calling the Super Snake.

The 2015Mustang Super Snake takes a Ford Mustang GT, adds some trickery and tuning to the 5.0-litre V8 engine to produce over 750hp. Aimed squarely at the Hellcat, this is a red blooded, full strength muscle car.

Thestandard V8 engine has been supercharged and tweaked to the nth degree to deliver awesome power. Shelby, along with Ford Performance have also added a short throw shifter, new rear axle, upgraded suspension package, Borla exhaust, Wilwood six-pot brake callipers, 20 inch Weld Racing wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Exterior trim upgrades include a carbon fibre hood with air scoop, larger spoiler and different striping down the length of the car.

2015 Ford Mustang

The 2015 Ford Mustang was something of a departure for Ford. While the big V8 and V6 engines were still available, it was the first time a four cylinder engine was available. At first, this produced quite a lot of ire from fans. If one wanted a fuel efficient, small engine car, why not buy a Focus or Fiesta?

However, the fact that the EcoBoost engine had a turbo and enough performance to deliver the kind of experience you expect from a Mustang soon quieted the critics, mostly. We like the
four cylinder. It may not produce the burble we know and love, but the boost from the turbo is something else. The 2.3-litre turbocharged engine is good for 310 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Despite its stature, it also sounds good. So much so that we didn't even try the sound system when we drove it as the soundtrack from the motor was too good!

If the EcoBoost isn’t your thing, then the 3.7-litre V6 delivers 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque or the 5.0-litre V8 will give 435 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque all day long. A six speed auto or manual transmission will send that power to the rear wheels. Whichever engine you choose, the handling characteristics of the 2015 Ford Mustang are miles ahead of previous models. It handles better, can actually go around corners and body roll is very well contained. It's nippy around city streets and delivers steady, progressive power out on the highway.

The 2015 Ford Mustang is an excellent car in any situation. Check it out at NorthwayFord Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
