Watch The Jeep Trackhawk Vs. Lamborghini Urus Drag Race

The 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat may soon be one of the most powerful SUVs in the world but its cousin, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk isn’t giving up the fight just yet. The Jeep attempted to prove that in this drag race with a Lamborghini Urus.

The video was uploaded by Hennessey Performance. They are planning to unleash their dark arts on the two SUVs but wanted to get a baseline of performance first.

This is the result:

I won’t spoil the result but the video is a good way to spend a couple of minutes of your time.

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has long been Jeep’s performance SUV and it has handled that role very well. It’s a great looking SUV designed to stay on tarmac. This is no off-roader but the clue is in the name, track.

The SUV uses the Dodge 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine to deliver the full 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. It combines it with an automatic transmission and AWD to deliver an awesome ride no matter where you’re going.

The SUV is also still a Grand Cherokee. That means a statuesque design, handsome front end, smooth panels and great road presence. The design is largely unchanged since its release but that’s a good thing. It is a purebred performance Jeep and not afraid to show it.

It might be able to raise an eyebrow on the track but the vast majority of these will remain on the road. Good job its road manners are very good then. You can confidently do the school run, the daily commute or go for groceries without having to worry about a traffic ticket, but when the opportunity arises you can let it loose on a track.

Inside, you have all the comfort and convenience you expect from a Grand Cherokee. Lots of space, high quality materials, superb finishing and lots of technology. Head and legroom are generous and there is leather everywhere. It’s a very nice place to spend time.

The driving position is very secure. The seat is comfortable, with bolsters each side to keep you in place, adjustable steering column and great visibility all round. The controls are all within easy reach and solid to the touch. It’s a reassuring cockpit that should give you the confidence to give this SUV full beans around the track.

Despite the unashamed intent of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, it also wants to keep you safe. The SUV comes with automatic high-beams, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert and self-parking assist.
