Europe isn’t really known for its love of trucks. Gas is too expensive, roads are too narrow and the people there love cars too much. That might all change if Ford have anything to do with it as the new Ford Ranger Raptor has been announced for release there.

The 2019 Ranger Raptor has been confirmed for a release across Europe next year. Smaller and arguably more palatable by European tastes, the Ranger will appear in other guises aside from the Raptor. It is this model that looks, sounds and performs the best though.

Here’s a video of it:

The video is short and nothing more than showing off the Ranger Raptor but it shows us enough that we want one of these in our life!

2019 Ranger Raptor
We have seen enough prototypes, mules and camouflaged Rangers to last us a lifetime but the speculation is almost over. I say almost because we still don’t know if the 2019 Ranger Raptor is coming to North America. I would confidently say it will given our love for all things truck but we don’t yet know for sure.

The Europeans do though. They will be getting the truck we all now know but with a diesel engine. That engine is a 2.0-litre twin turbo four cylinder that will delivers 210 hp and 393 lb-ft of torque. It will deliver that power to the rear wheels as you would expect.

It will also feature Watts Link rear suspension, long-travel Fox shocks and 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. It also features Ford’s neat Terrain Management system with Normal, Sport, Grass, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock and Baja modes.

The 2019 Ranger Raptor will be released across Europe sometime next year. While we have yet to receive confirmation of a North American release, I wo
uld be frankly amazed if it didn’t happen. We wouldn’t get the diesel engine though, not at first. We would likely get a version of the 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine or a variant of it with Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission.

The rest of the package I could easily imagine featuring on an NA-spec 2019 Ranger Raptor. For now we will just have to watch this video and daydream. We know we’re getting the Ranger but we are going to have to live with the uncertainty of the rest for now. At least until Ford do the decent thing and put us out of our misery by confirming a US/Canadian release anyway!
