Ram TRX spotted in the wild

Ram TRX spotted in the wild

640 × 319
It seems Ram are working hard to come up with a viable competitor to the Raptor and this might be it. The image is of a test truck spotted in Auburn Hills that is allegedly the Ram TRX with Hellcat engine. While not ready for production, from this view at least, it is more than ready to go!

After the demise of the Ram SRT back in 2004, Ram have not really been in the performance truck market. The Rebel is kind of a sports truck but not on the same level as this. The SRT used the Viper V10 engine and only lasted a couple of years but went down a storm while it lasted.

Given how highly regarded Ram trucks are, it makes sense to release another performance truck. The Raptor has held the crown for far too long and needs some competition in its life. The ZR2 tries but just doesn’t cut it. Perhaps the Ram TRX will.

Ram TRX
It’s only rumour right now but we think the Ram TRX will feature the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 Hellcat engine tuned to deliver the same 707 hp as the Charger and Challenger. It will also likely be fitted with uprated suspension, brakes and running gear so as not to compromise the off road ability.

This picture doesn’t give away much and may not even resemble the end product but if it looks even slightly like this it’s going to be popular.

Like the F-150 Raptor, if the Ram TRX is built on an already excellent platform, things can only get better when you bolt on that Hellcat engine. As long as the rest of the running gear is upgraded to cope with all that power it should fly!

The Ram 1500 is an excellent truck. It is tough, durable and as easy to drive empty as it is loaded. With excellent handling and good road manners, plus that ease of manoeuvring that makes it a breeze in the city, there is every reason to think the TRX will be even better!

It’s difficult to not make too much of that spy shot as it may just be a mule truck and bear no resemblance to the end product. It’s also early days so we likely won’t hear much else about it for a few months and it will be very unlikely to be with us in 2020 if not later.

Nevertheless, I hope the teaser image has whetted your appetite for a Ram-shaped truck. If it has, make your way to Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 to see what’s on offer!
