Ram 1500 moving to larger manufacturing plant

Ram 1500 moving to larger manufacturing plant

640 × 480
The Ram 1500 is selling so well that FCA are moving it to a large manufacturing plant in Michigan. The Ram 1500, along with the Jeep Wagoneer are apparently being shifted from their current home at the Warren Truck Plant to the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.

This move should allow the 2018 Ram 1500 and Jeep SUV to meet consumer demand and for the plant to tool up for these next-gen vehicles. The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is 30% larger than the current one which should be able to produce more units per week than is currently possible.

The move should happen within the next year but will have to be done carefully to avoid shortages. We saw a few problems when Ford tried the same thing with the production of the then new Ford F-150 truck. Let’s hope Ram has learned from Ford’s experience.

2016 Ram 1500
The 2016 Ram 1500 is a solid truck that vies for top spot thanks to a solid engine, drivetrain, chassis and cabin. It’s a winning combination that ensures we see plenty of them on the road, hence the need to increase production.

Despite being a design that has been with us for 7 years, the 2016 Ram 1500 doesn’t look a day over 2. The chunky design with a modern twist has seen this version of the 1500 become the most popular ever. That big front end, the option to avoid chrome altogether, nice cabin and decent load bed has ensured the Ram 1500 stays in the mind of buyers across Canada.

The standard 3.6-litre V6 engine produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque through an eight speed automatic transmission. There is also a 5.7-litre V8 motor available as an option that delivers 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque through a six or eight speed transmission. A 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine offers a little variety and produces 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Rear wheel drive is standard but 2 four wheel drive packages are available as an option.

The 2016 Ram 1500 is available in regular cab, Quad Cab and Crew Cab, two load bed sizes and 11 trim levels. Trims include Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Outdoorsman, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Limited. There really is a trim level for everyone here. If not, the options list is suitably long enough for even the most discerning buyer!

The 2016 Ram 1500 is a best-selling truck for a very good reason. It really is as good as the marketing material says it is. Visit Parkway Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Mississauga, 2260 Battleford Road, Mississauga, ON, L5N 3K6 and see for yourself!
