Nissan Murano gets Top Safety Pick+ rating

Nissan Murano gets Top Safety Pick+ rating

round of the notoriously tough small overlap test has been completed and one of
our cars, the Nissan Murano scores very well. Well enough to be awarded the clumsily
named but coveted Top Safety Pick+.

The U.S. Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) regularly runs these tests to assure us of
our vehicle’s safety. Of all the tests vehicles undertake, the relatively new
small overlap crash test is one of the toughest. It focuses an impact on a
small area at the front of the vehicle which concentrates forces into a very
small area. Only a few cars have so far got this test aced and the Nissan
Murano is one of them.

That makes
it one of the safest crossover SUVs on the market, as well as one of the most

2015 Nissan Murano

The 2015
Nissan Murano is a five-seat midsize crossover that looks and feels top drawer.
The Murano began with a bang in 2002 and has continued to put design and
aesthetics at the fore. Fortunately, that hasn’t come at the expense of quality
or practicality.

The sleek
design of the 2015 Nissan Murano is a big part of its appeal. The crossover
market is a highly competitive one, yet the Murano stays strong. A modern
design with some great details along those body panels, a unique and attractive
front end and an equally practical and attractive rear make for a very positive

Inside is
no different. The driving position is high and visibility is great. Controls
are all placed logically and the centre stack has everything you’re likely to
need. The NASA-inspired zero gravity foam in the seating also works well too.

Under that
very attractive hood is a 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 260 hp and 240
lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a CVT transmission that sends power to the
front or all wheels.

With a
range of technological and safety features, the 2015 Nissan Murano is always
looking forward. Top trims are stuffed with technology, including 360 degree
camera, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance,
cross traffic alerting, forward emergency braking and predictive forward
collision warning to name a few. The Murano doesn’t just look futuristic, it
acts it too.

With a
fantastic design inside and out, lots of features, sensible pricing and a heap
of curb appeal, there’s nothing not to like about the 2015 Nissan Murano. Add
this new IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and you have a market leader right here.
