Last weekend saw a welcome return to the Nissan Micra Cup. Held on the Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend in Ontario, the new racing series is fast, frenetic fun. The little Nissan is an agile little car and in racing tune it is fast too.
The Nissan Micra Cup returns for a third season and it is likely to be a good one. Having had a couple of years to shake itself up and settle down, the series is proving to be quite the hit with racers and spectators. For the racers, the Micra is a very affordable way to get into motor racing and is the ideal way for young drivers to gain valuable experience.
For spectators, the energy and agility of the series makes for great viewing and while it may not have the roar of Formula 1 or NASCAR, the visual spectacle more than makes up for it.

2017 Nissan Micra
The 2017 Nissan Micra is one of the most affordable small cars in the world. Despite being cheap, quality is still present in every panel. This is the ideal city car or car for the new driver. It’s small, nippy and safe.
The design is cute. The new look is very successful as it matures the model without taking away some of its approachability. The rounded panels, sloped hood, big lower grille and angled lights give it a very modern look without being too polarizing.
Inside, the cabin is compact but not cramped. Considering the diminutive size, there is enough room for four passengers and some shopping in back. The cabin is nicely done. The simplicity in the design means it won’t win awards but provides everything you might need for your journey in a very well put together interior.
The 2017 Nissan Micra features a four cylinder 1.6-litre engine that generates 109 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque. It uses a manual transmission to send power to the front wheels. Considering the low weight, the engine and drivetrain gives the Micra an agility that suits the circuit and the city.
Available in three trim levels, dozens of colours and with lots of options, there is a lot to love about the 2017 Nissan Micra.
