Next Ford Expedition to have aluminium body

640 × 480
When the Ford F-150 first arrived with its new aluminium body, Ford said once people were used to the idea that they would introduce it to other vehicles in their range. One of those vehicles is the Ford Expedition.

Ford have reportedly confirmed that the next generation Ford Expedition will have aluminium body panels just like its truck sibling. The exact details of which are still unknown but Ford let the cat out of the bag at the F-Series Super Duty production launch in Kentucky last week. The Kentucky Truck Plant was given $1.3 billion to facilitate retooling for aluminium and it seems the next Ford Expedition will be a beneficiary of that.

We don’t know exactly when the new Ford Expedition is due, but it should be within the next couple of years. With the current Expedition having its best year yet in terms of sales, there is still a lot of life left in the model!

2017 Ford Expedition
The 2017 Ford Expedition is one of the most capable SUVs on the market. It’s built like a truck, drives like a (large) car and has enough room for all the family plus everything you need for a weekend away. It doesn’t look that shabby either.

The Expedition is a full size SUV with body on frame construction. It has three rows of seating with enough room for eight people to sit in comfort and some cargo in back. The interior is very spacious, visibility is great and everyone has enough head and legroom, even the tallest passenger will be comfortable.

The 2017 Ford Expedition has a 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It uses a six speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels.

Safety tech includes antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, trailer sway control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. The optional rear parking sensors, rearview camera, front sensors and blind-spot monitoring systems make life much easier and safer too.

With four trim levels, XLT, Limited, King Ranch and Platinum, there is a lot of variety available in how you specify your Expedition. Each trim has generous features including LED lighting, power seats, rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, touchscreen and more. As this is Ford, the options list is pretty extensive too.

The 2017 Ford Expedition is a full size SUV that drives like something much smaller. With safety at its core, it is the ideal family vehicle no matter how large it might be. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to see it for yourself.
