New Ram truck videos shows winter capability

640 × 480
Most of you must have seen the Ram TV commercials where it positions itself as an all-weather truck that can cope with Canadian winters. The ads are the usual overly dramatized hero stuff we expect from America but with a sensible message. If you want a truck that can cope with our weather, make it a Ram. In that assertion they aren’t wrong.

The Ram 1500 is a great truck to own and drive. It is priced sensibly, has AWD capability, good engines, great hauling potential and can cope with all sorts of conditions. Paired with a set of winter tires and there is no reason a Ram couldn’t clear an iced up lake for skating or pull a stranded car from a snowy ditch.

Here are the two commercials in case you haven’t seen them yet.

As you can see, Ram does its best to create an emotional link between the audience and the truck. I have seen lots of Ram 1500 with snow ploughs on the front but I must admit to having never seen a truck of any size haul an entire chapel into a field!

2017 Ram 1500
The current Canadian Truck King Challenge champion, the 2017 Ram 1500, is a work truck for all seasons. It can haul, tow and drive well unloaded thanks to those neat coil springs in back. With a good design, well-built interior and robust engine and powertrain, there is a lot to like about the 1500.

While constantly updated, the 2017 Ram 1500 is the oldest running truck around. It’s hard to improve on something so good and I think that’s what the guys at Ram must have been thinking. Rather than replacing what is a fantastic vehicle, instead they evolve it through a steady stream of updates and offer a range of special editions to keep things interesting.

The 2017 Ram 1500 uses either a 3.6-litre V6 engine that generates 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, a 5.7-litre V8 that delivers 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque or a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 that delivers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. All use an eight speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels.

To keep you safe, the 2017 Ram 1500 features antilock disc brakes, stability control, hill start assist, trailer-sway control and a full suite of airbags. An integrated trailer brake, 360 degree camera, parking sensors and emergency telematics are available as an option.

The 2017 Ram 1500 is a truck for all reasons and a truck for all seasons. Visit Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 for a test drive. We think you’ll agree!
