New Mustang tuning kits boost power output across the range

New Mustang tuning kits boost power output across the range

599 × 361
As if the Ford Mustang didn’t have enough power, a tuning kit from Ford Performance will increase it even further. Three kit packages cover EcoBoost and V8 motors for both the Mustang and Mustang GT. So if you want your fast Ford to go a little faster, these could be for you!

The first EcoBoost calibration kit includes a high flow air filter which adds 13 hp and 16 lb-ft of torque. The second kit adds a cold air intake and an 87mm throttle body which increases output further while a third kit raises the redline of the V8 motor up to 7,500 rpm.

That means the 2.3-litre EcoBoost Mustang can produce 335 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. An increase of 25 hp and 70 lb-ft of torque.

What’s more, the kit is road legal, stays within emissions regulations and does not void your warranty. It will increase gas mileage a little but that is to be expected. Otherwise, it’s a win win!

2017 Ford Mustang
I think the 2017 Ford Mustang is the ideal balance between old school muscle and modernity. It looks and feels like a pony car should but has the road manners and technology of a modern vehicle. It really is the best of both worlds.

The 2017 Ford Mustang is largely unchanged because the initial package is so good. The design, the platform, the engines and interior all hit the mark so why mess with it? The design is excellent, a respectful nod to over 50 years of Mustang history but with both feet firmly in the modern camp. It’s a triumph of balance as well as design.

The interior is comfortable, well-appointed and finished to a very high standard too. All trim levels benefit from a nice cabin with high specification materials and all modern conveniences. This car is as comfortable getting you to work each day as it would be on the track. It is that good.

Under the hood is either a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers 310 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque, a 3.7-litre V6 that delivers 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque or a 5.0-litre V8 that delivers 435 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. All send power to the rear wheels though a six speed manual or automatic transmission. Even without the EcoBoost calibration kit, there is enough power there for most uses.

The 2017 Ford Mustang is a triumph of design, form and function. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 to experience it for yourself.
