New high end audio for 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum

New high end audio for 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum

Ford have unveiled how they and Sony are adding premium
audio to the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum. Sony have a track record of
delivering solid auto audio experiences and they are set to raise their game
significantly with this new system.

The new system will adorn the top Platinum spec Ford
Explorer and will include two brand new technologies. Live Acoustics is said to
give the impression of live performances from concert halls around the world.
Clear Phase changes the dynamics of the sound to make it seem as though it's
coming from a space larger than the interior of an SUV.

Sony sent their own orchestra to venues around the world and
recorded pieces in each to build the sound for Live Acoustics. They then
devised an algorithm to replicate that from audio played from their system. Clear
Phase apparently reduces the dispersion of sound and focuses it more around the
passengers. The result of these is said to be some of the best audio possible
in a vehicle.

"This technology was previously available only in our
high-end home audio systems - we've now applied the algorithm of Live Acoustics
to Ford Explorer Platinum's audio system to transform the listening experience
to be among the finest in the world," said Sony lead audio engineer Giro

Coupled with some impressive audio hardware within the 2016
Ford Explorer, the experience is said to be best in class. We'll have to wait a
few months until we get to try it though.
