New Ford Super Duty spied in the wild

New Ford Super Duty spied in the wild

As work trucks go, the Ford Super Duty is one of the most popular out there. They are everywhere, in every town and city. Any update to a truck this popular has to be done carefully.

Which is perhaps why we’re increasingly seeing versions of the Ford Super Duty being tested across north America.

This latest test was captured by the guys at Motor1 and they managed to get some shots of the truck under camouflage.

They say it’s an XLT trim and they are probably right, but the camouflage covers a lot so we don’t have a clear picture.

2023 Ford Super Duty

What we assume is the 2023 Ford Super Duty, looks very similar to the current model, with a few key differences.

We have a new grille with distinct patterning across it and a big blue oval. The headlights either side are intersected by that grille, like in the F-150.

The image shows what look like to be halogen lights, so will be the entry level option. Presumably there will be LED options too.

There is also what looks to be a new hood with a different shape to the current model. New front and rear bumpers and new rear lights, although they weren’t clear.

There’s also the new truck bed step by the rear wheel which can be seen under the camo.

As far as we know, the chassis, suspension, engine and drivetrain all remain the same. There may be a power boost or gas mileage improvement in there somewhere, but otherwise it’s business as usual.

2022 Ford Super Duty

The 2022 Ford Super Duty is about as reliable as they come. It’s a proper work truck you’ll see used by power companies, contractors and anyone who needs to tow or haul.

The truck is available in regular, extended and crew cab configurations with multiple truck bed lengths and configuration options. It can be built to include almost every conceivable body and the chassis and drivetrain can take it.

There are two gas engines and a diesel engine option. There’s a 6.2-litre gas V8 and a 7.3-litre V8 and a 6.7-litre diesel with over 1,050 lb-ft of torque.

Each delivers smooth power and enables the truck to tow serious loads with the right setup.

All engines use Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear wheels. AWD is an option if you need it.

What the 2022 Ford Super Duty lacks in safety tech it has in the fact it will survive 9 out of 10 collisions you could find yourself in. It’s a big, solid truck designed to work hard, so will inspire confidence in almost any situation.

The updates to the 2022 Ford Super Duty look modest but should help keep the truck up to date. We’ll let you know more when we know more.

In the meantime, check out the 2022 Ford Super Duty at Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2.
