New Ford Fiesta on the way?

New Ford Fiesta on the way?

640 × 480
There may be a new Ford Fiesta being prepared for release sometime this year. Italian auto website Omni Auto seems to think so anyway. We know there was a revision planned for 2017 as Ford said so when they were at Detroit last year but it looks like things may have changed.

Omni Auto thinks the new model will still use the established Fiesta platform but will feature a new body to bring it in line with the new design philosophy. The four cylinder engine may be dropped in favour of EcoBoost and the ST model will get more power.

Now we’re not sure how accurate this is. As mentioned, Ford had said at Detroit that they were planning a new Fiesta for 2017 and there are also rumours that a completely new model is being lined up for a 2018 release. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how Ford’s smallest car fares over the coming months.

2016 Ford Fiesta
The 2016 Ford Fiesta is a great subcompact car that punches well above its weight. A refined design, tidy interior, peppy engines and great performance combine to create a grin-inducing ride, especially in the ST.

The design is very modern, in line with the newer Taurus, Focus and Fusion. It has a shark-like front end with a big grille, angled headlights and a steeply angled hood. The lines flow smoothly from the very front, over that hood, the raked windshield, over the curved roof to the spoiler at the back and down. It is a very sleek car.

Inside, this is definitely a subcompact but done well. Front seats are very comfortable and supportive, the dashboard simple and intuitive and if you opt for Sync 3, the centre stack well kitted out. Space is at a premium in the back, but the rear seats can fit two adults in comfort. The hatch at the rear offers easy access to whatever you’re carrying too.

There are three engine options available for the 2016 Ford Fiesta. A 1.6-litre four cylinder that produces 120 hp and 112 lb-ft of torque, an EcoBoost 1.0-litre turbo three cylinder that produces 123 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged four cylinder 1.6 in the ST. It delivers 197 hp and 202 lb-ft of torque.

The 2016 Ford Fiesta is available as either hatchback or sedan across four trim levels, S, SE, Titanium and ST. All offer decent levels of equipment for a very sensible price.

With spritely characteristics, good engines and a great drive, the 2016 Ford Fiesta is the perfect city car. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2 for a test drive!
