New Bullitt Mustang on the horizon?

640 × 295
I usually treat what I read on forums with suspicion and never take it at face value until it can be verified elsewhere. So when I saw a post on Mustang6G a little while ago purportedly showing a new Mustang that was allegedly honouring Bullitt, I was suspicious. Now it seems it might be true thanks to series of images that have appeared.

The original post is here and cites the arrival of a test sticker for a Bullitt Mustang. While anonymous sources were credited with providing the sticker, not a lot of other evidence was provided. Until last week when a forum user posted images of the Bullitt Mustang as it was being filmed for its TV commercial.

The images are here and clearly show a Bullitt-inspired Mustang. The colour does resemble the Dark Highland Green referred to in that test sticker and that appeared in the movie. The images also show some unique wheels, different badge at the back, Brembo brakes and a 5.0 badge.

While not confirmed, this could indicate a 5.0-litre Coyote engine and GT Performance Pack. The test sticker also mentioned rear screen louvres but they don’t seem to appear on this model being filmed.
Expectation management

While a new Bullitt Mustang may indeed be being filmed for some commercial or other, that doesn’t mean this will be a retail release. It could be a special edition purely for this advert, or it could be the advert for the car. We just don’t know.

There is hope though. 2018 is the 50th anniversary of the release of the Bullitt movie and what better way to cash in on that than by releasing a special edition Bullitt Mustang? I would think that would be an opportunity that is simply too good to ignore for any automaker. Especially when the car was such as star of the movie.

Who wouldn’t want a 5.0-litre Ford Mustang GT in Dark Highland Green with custom wheels and looks like that? If it did indeed have the Performance Pack as the brakes seem to indicate, all the better!

With the auto show season in full swing, if a Bullitt Mustang is coming and the commercial is being filmed, it won’t be long until we see or hear more. I’ll let you know what I find out.

In the meantime, the existing range of Mustangs aren’t exactly slow in coming forward. Visit Northway Ford Lincoln, 388 King George Road Brantford ON N3S 3N2, to see them up close!
