More safety scores incoming

After
learning that the 2015 Kia Sedona was awarded the top five star NCAP rating, we
were quickly inundated with other scores for vehicles we sell. Both the 2015 FordF-150 and the 2015 Nissan Juke were rated last week and both did well.

Safety is a
big consideration for all of us but many buyers will base their decision on it.
This isn't restricted to the family or minivan market either. For many
families, the safety rating of a particular model can make or break the
purchase. So while making driving safer is the responsibility of all
automakers, there is an element of self-interest there too.

Whatever
the reasons behind safety improvements, we appreciate all of them!

2015 Ford F-150

You would
fully expect a truck to achieve good safety scores for passengers compared to a
car, but what about compared to other trucks? Well, the new F-150 with its
aluminum body was just awarded a five star safety rating from the U.S. NHSTA (National
Highway Safety Traffic Administration).

After all
the fuss about the new body material, the F-150 Crew Cab outperforms its steel counterparts
in fuel economy, towing and now safety. If that isn't enough to quiet the doubters,
we don't know what is!

We're still
waiting on a rating for the Super Cab.

2015 Nissan Juke

The 2015
Nissan Juke was also rated by the NHSTA last week and achieved a four star
rating. It achieved three stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side
crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test. This gives it an overall
rating of 'good' for the range of tests carried out.

The Nissan
Juke has six airbags, vehicle dynamic control, antilock brakes and traction
control to keep you safe. We like the look of the Juke, it's different without
being too out there, small and nippy while also being large enough for four and
practical on the highway. It's a good balance of all the modern driving needs
and we think it's cool.

So these
are two very difference vehicles with two very different markets. Ford has had
an uphill battle convincing buyers that aluminum was a good idea, yet the F-150
is selling faster than any other truck right now. That is set to accelerate now
these safety scores validate the body material.

The Nissan
Juke is also a favorite of buyers but for different reasons. Being rated 'good'
will be a boost to its sales also.
