Mazda6 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Mazda6 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

640 × 480
The very accomplished Mazda sedan covers most needs of the modern driver. It is great to drive, looks amazing, offers decent gas mileage and is easy to service. The one thing it was missing compared to its contemporaries was Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. That changes with a new software update released last week.

New and existing Mazda6 owners will be able to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a simple upgrade. Only existing 2018 owners though, older models are not compatible with the hardware that is used to enable the features. All you need to do is bring your Mazda6 in for a service and the hardware and software can be installed for you.

The upgrade takes a couple of hours as it includes a hardware installation and a software update. As well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you will also receive the newest version of Mazda Connect which is faster and easier to use. You will also get USB charging too.

The update should be available from September 2018.

2018 Mazda6
The 2018 Mazda6 is the best yet. The new turbo engine offers superb performance with few downsides and the design and build are first class. As a sedan that bucks the trend for maintaining a solid market share, once you get close to one, you’ll quickly see why.

The 2018 Mazda6 is a good looking car. It’s modern, flowing and looks good on the move or standing still. The shark-like front end is excellent, with Mazda grille and angled lights making up a fascia that means business. A steady rise from the hood, over the screen and roof to the trunk and rising beltline gives an impression of speed even when not moving.

On the inside, the cabin is light, airy and spacious. The driving position is very comfortable with all instruments and controls in natural positions and easy to read dials. Passenger space is pretty good too, with space enough for adult passengers and luggage.

Under that hood is a new turbocharged 2.5-litre four cylinder engine capable of 250 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque if you use premium gas. If you use standard, you get 227 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The existing non-turbo 2.5-litre engine is still available if you prefer.

The drive is smooth and sure. Although it is front wheel drive, you get no torque steer even when driving progressively. Shifts are smooth, braking is sure and control is very slick. Both driver and passenger comfort is flawless and makes even the most mundane commute something new and exciting.
