Mazda celebrating centenary with a special edition MX-5

Mazda is celebrating their 100th year in style with a special edition of the Mazda MX-5. It’s an appearance package that strikes the right chord between modernity and respect for the past. I think it looks amazing!

The Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary edition as it is known is a nod to the 1960 Mazda R360 Coupe. The coupe was Mazda’s first production car released back in 1960. While the technology and the dimensions may be very different, the instant appeal is exactly the same!

Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary edition

The Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary edition gives us a white and burgundy two-tone colour scheme. The car is a 2020 MX-5 Grand touring in special Snowflake White Pearl Mica paintwork with striking red interior, roof and trim. It’s a superb combination that uses Mazda’s colour expertise to best effect.

The special edition will be available as a convertible with soft top or RF model with retractable roof.

The Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary edition also gets unique badging, special interior badging and trim, embossed logo in the upholstery, a small plaque on the floor and a special key fob.

The overall design of this edition is superb. I’m not usually a fan of white cars but the combination of white and red in this is very attractive.

2020 Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring

The one thing almost everyone who test drives an MX-5 says, is that the car is fun. Fun to drive, to corner, to fling around winding roads and to generally enjoy driving. In these safe times where cars look all alike and are one variation of crossover or another, it’s great to see a car that dares to be different.

The 2020 Mazda MX-5 is small but perfectly formed. A two seater roadster that is light, agile and has the perfect poise for Canadian roads. It can handle highways with ease, city streets with aplomb and country roads with enthusiasm.

The 2020 Mazda MX-5 uses the improved 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that delivers 181 hp. Considering how light this little car is, that’s plenty enough power to have fun while on the road. A six speed automatic or manual transmission keeps you connected while on the road.

The Grand Touring trim outfits the MX-5 with leather interior, heated seats, adaptive lights, traffic sign recognition and navigation. It is available in manual or automatic.

The Mazda MX-5 100th Anniversary edition takes an already superb car and turns it up a notch. If you want in on the action, visit Mazda of Hamilton, 1977 Upper James Street Hamilton, ON L9B 1K8.
