Concepts are a mixed bunch. We know they often have little relevance to any eventual production model, but they are an exciting preview into what could potentially be coming in the future.
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept is one such concept.
We know it’s unlikely any production car would look anything like this, but if it did? Wow!
Lincoln Model L100 Concept
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept was unveiled a couple of weeks ago and it looks amazing.
After Ford has been stealing headlines with its electric models, it’s now time for Lincoln to do the same thing. And what a first thing!
“Lincoln has always been special to me and my family, especially my father and my grandfather,” said Ford Chairman Bill Ford Jr.
“If there is one secret to Lincoln’s longevity, it is the brand’s ability to balance its core values with a desire to innovate and create the future.”
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept is as smooth and as futuristic as they come and could transform Lincoln into something even more special than it already is.
The car is long, low, smooth and has almost no exterior extrusions. The grill looks like a projection and the lights a continuous light bar between the bodywork and the hood.
That hood is a smooth piece of material that flows seamlessly into the roof and down each side to include side windows.
Rather than a sunroof, the L100 has a single-piece roof that lifts up from the rear like a lid.
Along with large suicide doors, the entirety of the centre of the car opens out to allow easy access for both front and rear passengers.
Inside the L100
The marketing for the Lincoln Model L100 Concept says the car illuminates with a ‘symphony of light’ and automatically gets the car ready to drive as you approach.
The interior is Lincoln’s usual standards but made mainly from recycled materials. Anything non-recycled is animal-free according to the blurb.
Interior lighting hopes to set the mood as you sit inside the car.
“The digital floor, canopy and ambient lighting all harmonize to create a personalized experience that can enhance your mood,” Lincoln’s says.
“Orchestrated like a fine-tuned symphony along with interior lighting that harmonizes with sound, scent and touch, the digital floor transports passengers to the sanctuary of tomorrow.”
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept is just that, so there are no concrete details about motors, except it would be electric. There’s no detail on range, drive type of any of that.
This is an exercise in design and what Lincoln thinks is possible. I for one like what I see and would definitely like to see something like this come to fruition!
