The Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept is Here

The Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept is Here

Automakers always seem to be on the lookout for tie-ins with other brands, whether it’s movie brands, luxury brands or something else. This time, Lincoln has partnered with Detroit watch brand Shinola to give us a special edition SUV concept. The Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept is going to be showing at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Lincoln Aviator Shinola Concept begins with a soft white exterior paint with blue trim accents that are often found on Shinola watches. There are also copper plated elements, including wheels, that also reflect the watch brand.

Inside, the cabin features a unique leather colour, off-white trim elements and a centre stripe, all familiar to the watch brand.

“The goal is to impress occupants with our very own expression of craftsmanship, showcasing our meticulous attention to detail,” said Liam Butler, Lincoln’s color and materials designer. “This stripe is unlike anything I’ve ever seen sewn into a vehicle, so we wanted to make sure it was done with care.”

“Designers from both brands came together to create an ultra-luxe vehicle that still embodies Shinola’s aesthetic of approachable luxury with thoughtful details. You can see this in the touches of copper inspired by our bike seats and the brand strip incorporated into the leather seats.”

2022 Lincoln Aviator

The 2022 Lincoln Aviator is Lincoln at its best. A luxurious SUV that isn’t too much and certainly isn’t too little. It’s refined, smooth and delivers the quality of ride and comfort you expect.

It’s a three row SUV with a cavernous interior, comfortable seating and a genuine eye for design. Even if you don’t go for a special edition, the standard fit is a real touch of class.

The exterior is smooth, with rounded edges, a large chrome grille, angled lights and a curved hood. Big wheels dominate the profile while a sloping roof and level beltline bring everything together at the rear.

Inside, the three rows of seating are all comfortable but the front two are more so. The driving position is very adjustable, the dashboard is clear and easy to read and all the controls are where you would expect them to be.

Engine and drivetrain

The 2022 Lincoln Aviator uses Ford’s powerful 3.5-litre twin turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It uses a 10 speed automatic transmission to deliver power to the rear or all wheels.

The Grand Touring and Grand Touring Black Label use the same engine but in mild hybrid guise, offering more power for a little less gas.

The Aviator comes with adaptive dampers and independent suspension and drives well. While an SUV, it isn’t designed to go off road, even with AWD but is one of the most comfortable cars on road you can buy at this price.

With a five star safety rating, standard adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, active lane control and automatic emergency braking, the Aviator is a safe car to drive.

The optional surround-view camera system, head-up display, active parking assist, and automatic high-beam headlights won’t hurt either!
