Kia wins three J.D. Power awards
Posted on August 10, 2017
Kia have walked away with three J.D. Power APEAL awards, cementing their position as one of the top imported brands in North America. The Kia Niro, Soul and Cadenza all topped the class in their respective segments.
The J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, is a satisfaction survey that measure those critical first 90 days of ownership. It judges exterior, interior, storage, audio, seats, heating and ventilation, driving dynamics, powertrain, visibility and fuel economy. Each car is given a score across all ten categories with the highest score winning the award.
All of the three Kia winners were awarded significantly more points than the segment average. This shows just how strong Kia are in the market right now.
The Kia Cadenza won the Large Car segment which was a hard fought battle. The new sedan was redesigned for 2017 and features a new look, new interior design and materials, more technology and a very capable 3.3-litre V6 engine.
The Kia Niro won the Small SUV segment. This is an all-new vehicle that has proven exceptionally popular with buyers. The FWD crossover has a great design, spacious, well equipped cabin and a hybrid powertrain.
The Kia Soul won the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle segment. The Soul has been around a while and is a very popular option in our cities. It looks great, can navigate city traffic with ease and is surprisingly spacious inside. A peppy turbocharged four cylinder is the perfect partner.
Other Car Nation Canada brand winners
While Kia won big, other Car Nation Canada brands did well too. The Chrysler Pacifica won the Minivan segment, the Dodge Challenger won the Midsize Sporty Car segment, the Ford F-150 won the Large Light Duty Pickup segment and the Ford F-Series Super Duty won the Large Heavy Duty Pickup segment.
The Lincoln Continental won the Midsize Premium Car segment, Nissan Altima won the Midsize Car segment and the Nissan Murano won the Midsize SUV segment. Porsche dominated the awards while BMW and MINI also fared well.
Our opinion of the new Kia lineup has been borne out by consumer surveys and new owner feedback. The Kia Cadenza, Niro and Soul all won their segments comfortably and this is the fifth year that the Kia Soul has won this award. If you needed more proof that Kia are the manufacturer to consider when looking for a new car, this is it!
