Kia to show four new vehicles at Montreal next week

Kia is planning to show four new cars at the Montreal Auto Show next week. Even though Detroit is running right now, we are already looking forward to our own motor show when one of our favourite automakers has a stand. They have said they will be showing new versions of the Soul, Soul EV, Niro EV and Forte5.
The Soul, along with these other models are all new. They will include varying levels of newness but are regarded as fresh models with some interesting tweaks we hope.
Kia Soul
The new Kia Soul will improve on the cool and funky design of the current model with a refinement that brings it of age. We don’t know too much about the Canadian spec Soul, aside from rumours but we expect a greener car all around to reflect our interest in responsible motoring.
We have seen images of the new Soul and it looks good. The new slimline lights and two-tone body colour are just two of the many ways the Soul is different.
Kia Soul EV
The Kia Soul EV is the ultimate green car. It’s well designed, has a plug-in electric motor and good range. Most importantly, it’s affordable. This last point is the main disappointment with the current range of EVs. They are priced too high for the average Canadian to afford or justify. The Kia Soul EV seeks to level that playing field.
The Kia Soul EV design reflects the changes of the gas model except it will have a new grille with charging port underneath.
Kia Niro EV
The Kia Niro EV is also regarded as new but we don’t yet know exactly what that entails. The current Niro is a very competent crossover with frugal gas engines and an electric option. The size, power and practicality all hit the mark and the price is eminently affordable. We certainly don’t expect this new version to let us down on any of those points.
The Kia Niro EV is expected to offer the same practicality of the current model, perhaps with faster charging and more technology.
Kia Forte5
The Kia Forte5 is new to Canada. It’s a hatchback that offers the practicality of a sedan and the appeal of a crossover with the small platform of a car. It’s a good looking vehicle with five doors, a modern design and should be a bit of fun to drive in GT configuration.
We don’t know too much else about the Kia Forte5. It has performed well in Asia and is making its North American debut at the auto show this year. Engines, price and performance for our version have yet to be announced.
The Montreal Auto Show is on January 18 through 27 at the Palais des Congres in Montreal.
