Kia teases their upcoming performance car once more

I showed the teaser put out by Kia a week or so ago. So we know they are planning to release some kind of performance car at the Detroit Auto Show next year, but we don’t know much more than that right now. Except that it can apparently go from 0 – 100 kph in 5.1 seconds.

That would make it the fastest Kia yet. While they aren’t known for performance, they are no slouch either. The new teaser comes in the form of another video. The video doesn’t give much away except what they tell you. The engine note sounds suitably throaty but it also sounds produced so there is no guarantee that it is what the car will actually sound like in the flesh.

Here is the video:

There is nothing much to see in terms of shape and specification. We do see a push button starter and some very aero side mirrors but not much else. The same sporty instrument panel and low profile tyres from the last video are still there, but not a lot else. It is a very clever video that tells you only what Kia want you to know and not a lot more.

With the Detroit Auto Show running 8 through 22 2017, we don’t have that long to wait. Alongside whatever this performance Kia is, we expect to see new cars from Mercedes-Benz with a new E and S class, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace concept, Lexus with their LS, Toyota and other automakers, as well as Chevrolet’s new Corvette ZR-1. As the first show of the year, it is usually a good benchmark as so what to expect in terms of direction, models and trends for the year.

In the meantime, it is Christmas Eve tomorrow and the holiday begins soon. The entire team here at Car Nation Canada hope you have a great holiday season. Drive safely out there!
