Kia Soul Turbo spied in the wild

Kia Soul Turbo spied in the wild

640 × 386
A new Kia Soul Turbo is on its way and it was spotted being test driven under camouflage last week. We are expecting a new version of the Soul later this year and have so far only seen a concept and a prototype. Neither of which can be relied on for accuracy. Thanks to some spy shots, we now have a much better idea of what to expect from the funky Kia.

The spy shots from SpiedBilde and featured on Autoblog show a very similar outline to the current model but with a few key difference. Foremost among those differences is the full width light line in the front fascia. It looks a bit like some Citroen cars from France, with a headlight either side and a piece of trim running between them. This looks slightly different and could feature LED running lights.

The headlight design differs quite a bit from the current Soul. They are narrower and have integrated the turn signals into the unit. The old grille and tiger nose may be a thing of the past if the light arrangement is anything to go by. The traditional grille design has been sent lower into the fascia and does not look like Kia’s of old at all.

Aside from the changes at the front, we can see no other huge changes to the shape or size of the Soul. The camouflage will hide smaller changes but the front looks to be the main story here. The only obvious thing anywhere else is a neat centrally mounted exhaust.

2018 Kia Soul
The 2018 Kia Soul is a small car with a big attitude. It’s a funky vehicle with a unique shape and appeal and has resonated well with buyers. It is very stylish and younger buyers have reacted well to it so far.

The design is rounded and cube-like without being boxy. The profile maximizes interior space without looking like a van. Inside, interior space is decent with good visibility, comfortable seats and top quality materials. Overall it’s a nice place to be. With good crash and safety scores, it has become a staple in our cities. A Kia Soul fitted with automatic emergency braking and HID headlights is currently rated as Top Safety Pick+ by the US IIHS.

Under the diminutive hood is either a 1.6-liter four cylinder, a 2.0-litre four or a 1.6-litre turbo four. Each works well and offers credible performance and gas mileage. The turbo is a lot of fun and comes with a dual clutch automatic transmission.

With a range of trims and optional features, there is a Kia Soul for everyone. With competitive pricing and real appeal, it’s no wonder we see them so often on our streets. Visit Georgetown Kia, 199 and 314 Guelph Street, Georgetown, Ontario to see it for yourself.
