Kia offers hints of 2017 Cadenza

Kia offers hints of 2017 Cadenza

Kia has released artists renderings of what the 2017 Kia
Cadenza might look like. In advance of its apparent appearance at the LA Auto
Show, Kia have given us a sneak
peek at what to expect. The sketch doesn’t give much away, but gives an idea of
what Kia are thinking about future models.

The sketch is one of a series of three renderings
illustrating ideas around how the new model might look. The finished article is
allegedly supposed to be appearing at the LA show at the end of the month, but
Kia are being tight-lipped about whether it will appear or not.

In the meantime, we have these drawings to look at.

The sketch shows a much more modern looking sedan with
sleeker lines and a much more sporty profile. The front end has elements of BMW
about it with a more angular grille, lower light cluster and splitter. The
tiger nose grille is still present while the very angled headlights and hood
add a sporty edge to the car.

Flared wheel arches and fluted door panels add interest
while a coupe-like sloping roof slides sinuously down to the trunk. The back
end has a distinct 6-series look about it too, which is a good look as far as
we are concerned. All rounded off with integral tailpipes set into the
bodywork.

The rendering of the inside continues the futuristic look
and if the actual model looks anything like this, we’ll be buying one! The
first thing that hits you is the one piece dashboard that looks very classy.
With black and wood trim, an inset centre stack and three-spoke steering wheel,
this is a very ergonomic-looking cabin.

While not in the renderings, whispers within the industry
think that the 2017 Kia Cadenza will be powered by either a 3.3-litre V6 engine
that delivers 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque or an as yet unnamed 2.0-litre
turbocharged four cylinder engine. The current model uses the V6 and Kia has
some pretty good four cylinders in other models, so we will keep our ear to the
ground on this one, or wait until the LA Auto Show.

The current Kia Cadenza is one of the best put-together
sedans in the Korean automaker’s model range. It’s a solid family car with real
appeal. Premium materials, a decent V6 engine, good transmission and great
levels of luxury and technology mark it out as a sedan to watch.
