Kia at CES 2016

Continuing the autonomous car theme from yesterday, Kia are also planning to reveal their plans for self-driving cars. They have set up a press conference at CES 2016 where they will outline their plans for the future.
We already have a good idea about where Kia are headed thanks their roadmap for 2020. We know they are planning more alternative fuelled cars and are investing heavily in emissions technology. What we don’t know is what part, if any, autonomous vehicles will play in their future. That’s what we will find out at CES.
CES 2016 is the largest technology show in the world. It is being held in Las Vegas between January 6th and 9th with previews on the 4th and 5th. All of the largest technology manufacturers will be there to showcase their latest products, devices and gadgets to show us what we can expect in the year ahead. It’s a great place to go if you have any interest in tech.
Kia going autonomous
So far we know that Kia has arranged a press conference at the CES on January 5th. We know that Kia have set it up to be their "global debut of its dedicated autonomous driving program." After their announcement that they had been given licence to test self-driving cars and associated technology on the streets of Nevada, we can safely expect some kind of demonstration during the week.
As well as autonomous vehicles, Kia will also discuss advances they have made in connected cars, although we doubt this will have the same effect as the self driving aspect of the announcements. We think it will be either the Kia Soul or Optima that they choose to demonstrate on the day as both of these have played a part in early testing.
2016 Kia Soul
The 2016 Kia Soul is a cutting-edge vehicle in terms of styling and technology. It is much larger on the inside than it should be and has gained a loyal following since its release. With upgrades in technology across the board and the introduction of forward collision and lane-departure warning systems to the range, there is a lot to love about this little car.
The Soul is a five person car with generous passenger room and a cargo area in back. The cabin is compact but airy and the space inside belies its modest footprint. Quality materials, supportive seating, upscale fixtures and plenty of technology also feature.
Under the hood is either a 1.6-litre four that produces 130 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque or a 2.0-litre four that produces 164 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. Both use a six speed manual or automatic transmission to send power to the front wheels.
