Jeep Wrangler pickup expected next year

600 × 350
Rumours of a Jeep pickup have been around for the longest time. Some people are in favour, others not so much. I am on the fence. Either way, from recent dealer updates, it seems the Jeep Wrangler pickup will be with us from April 2019.

We have seen a few spy shots of the truck version of the Wrangler over the past months. With a healthy dose of camouflage covering the bodywork it was still possible to see the basic outline of the vehicle, along with small-ish truck bed at the back. The instantly recognizable Wrangler front end was still there, along with classic Wrangler shape. Just with an extra piece bolted on at the rear.

According to a dealership briefing, the as-yet unnamed pickup will hit lots in April 2019. That is it as far as our knowledge goes. We know it’s coming. We know it will be rolling off the production line by the end of Q4 2018 and we know that FCA and Jeep have yet to announce a name, pricing, capability or any real detail.

Jeep Wrangler pickup
We don’t know an awful lot but we can safely assume some things. I think it safe to assume that the Jeep Wrangler pickup will have all the same features of the SUV but will just be longer. The same design, same interior, same engines and same options list will likely feature. As for names, your guess is as good as ours.

For engines, the current three motors are likely to be options. The 2.0-litre four cylinder, the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 and the 3.0-litre diesel are all likely to be present in the pickup. While the diesel has yet to arrive, it will likely be here in time for the launch of the pickup.

Each is capable, reliable and should have enough power to handle whatever you can load into that truck bed. Transmission and running gear are also likely to be similar. This also lowers design and production time as well as cost.

2018 Jeep Wrangler
The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK is the newer version of the SUV. Available as a two or four door version in four trims, the new Jeep has made improvements in all the right places. It looks better, drives better and is much less of a compromise when you’re not driving off road.

With the three engine options as above, a manual and an automatic transmission and multiple AWD setups, flexibility is something you get plenty of with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler!
