Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will use Ram chassis

620 × 484
Good news for anyone considering the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. FCA have confirmed rumours that the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will utilize the excellent upcoming Ram truck frame as its chassis.

Many were concerned at the news the Wagoneer would use the existing Grand Cherokee frame but those fears have now been alleviated. While there is nothing inherently wrong with that chassis, it wasn’t what people wanted for their Wagoneer. FCA themselves said it wouldn’t have been a great fit as it would have limited towing capability.

The existing Ram truck is one of the best drives in its segment. It also tows well, hauls as much as you need and is stable and comfortable on the road. The new chassis in the upcoming refresh is supposed to build on all of those qualities to make it better than ever. Having that same chassis underpin the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer is even better.

Not much more is known about the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer at the minute aside from the price and target market. The Wagoneer is designed to go toe to toe with the Tahoe while the Grand Wagoneer has its sights set firmly on the Escalade. Production is said to be slated for 2020.

2017 Ram 1500
My fond feelings for the 2017 Ram 1500 are well known. It’s a real do-it-all truck that delivers everything you could possibly need from a light duty pickup. It drives exceptionally well loaded or unloaded and offers comfortable cabins and all day comfort at each trim level.

Available as regular cab, Quad cab and crew cab with three bed lengths and ten trim levels, there really is a Ram 1500 for everyone. From the workmanlike Tradesman right up to the luxurious Limited, there are hundreds of configurations to make your truck suit your way of working.

The standard 3.6-litre V6 engine is a good starting point with  305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. You can also select a 5.7-litre V8 that’s good for 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque or a 3.0-litre turbodiesel that delivers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. All use an eight speed automatic transmission to send power to the rear or all wheels.

With innovative suspension, comfortable cabins, decent engines and great visibility, there is a lot to recommend the 2017 Ram 1500. Add the ability to haul, carry or tow with the best of them and you have a truck for every season.
