Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept

Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept

The Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept has been unveiled for virtual SEMA. The big Jeep is a mountain biker’s dream designed to go seriously off-piste so you can then play on two wheels.

As a mountain biker myself, this resonates strongly with me. I’m not normally a huge fan big SUVs but I will make an exception for the Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept!

It’s a Jeep Gladiator that looks like it has had the full Mopar parts bin thrown at it with some extra trick parts added for good measure.

“Loaded with nearly 20 Jeep Performance Parts, we built this go-anywhere Jeep Gladiator Top Dog Concept for passionate mountain bike enthusiasts,” said Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA North America.

Top Dog

The builders took a Gladiator and added and enclosed unit where the load bed used to be. That unit includes a grill and refrigerator on one side and a series of innovative storage solutions on the other.

Those storage solutions are perfect for trail tools and everything you need to keep your bike in good condition when out in the wilds. A drawer has even been fitted to the rear bumper for kit or more tools.

There are also switches for exterior lighting, which is another genius inclusion. That lighting is a five inch LED spot located on the base of each A pillar.

On top is a rack designed to hold the bikes, which is less than ideal but they couldn’t fit in the new unit. This makes the truck very high so you have better watch for low bridges!

The Gladiator itself has 17 inch wheels, 37 inch BF Goodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires, Fox shocks with 2 inch lift kit and fared fenders. Up front is a guard and winch and a custom hood.

The exterior is finished in a very nice K-9 Blue colour with black trim.

Inside, the custom interior features leather elements, steel pedals, blue contrast stitching and the usual high levels of comfort and practicality you expect from Jeep.

It’s a comfortable place to be with the same style as the exterior with black trim, that blue in the stitching and the usual reassuring interior you get with the Gladiator.

It’s obvious that the designers are mountain bikers. The placement of the tools, the tool drawer, external lighting and the grill are all things we wish we had when out on the trails.

If only Jeep let you fit the bikes inside instead of on the roof. Then this would genuinely be perfect!
