Get ready for winter: 2019 Jeep Cherokee

640 × 480
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is the smaller sibling to the Grand Cherokee and shares many of its characteristics, just on a smaller scale. This Jeep, in AWD guise is ideal for Canadian winters as it is comfortable, stable and has very reliable drivetrains. It doesn’t look too bad either.

2019 Jeep Cherokee
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is a great evolution of this inimitable SUV. If you don’t want something the size of the Grand Cherokee, this is a great option that won’t make you feel as if you compromised.

The design is very similar to the Grand Cherokee with signature Jeep grille, angled lights, modest lower sill and curved hood. There is some panel detailing down the side along with detailing along the lower sill. The windshield is sharply rakes and rounds out into a curved roof that flows down to the rear.

High ground clearance, a decent set of alloy wheels and different trim options round out what is a handsome design. It is unmistakably Jeep but for all the right reasons.

Inside, Jeep has done a lot of work to improve the cabin. As this is a two row car, passenger space is generous and there is space in back for cargo. Materials and finishing has been improved, as has the trim and storage. The driving position is upright and well supported by the seats. The dashboard is clear and easy to read while the centre stack is ideally positioned for the controls.

Under the hood
Under the hood of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee are a choice of three engines. There is the 2.4-litre four cylinder that produces 180 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque, the new 2.0-litre turbo four that produces 270 hp and 295 lb-0ft of torque and the 3.2-litre V6 that produces 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. All use a nine speed automatic transmission.

AWD is naturally an option with a Jeep and you have three options here. Active Drive I is suitable for light off roading. Active Drive II is capable of rougher terrain while the Trailhawk trim includes all the off road bells and whistles. Whatever you choose, you can tackle most roads in winter with ease. Selec-Terrain makes snow driving easier still with switchable options for conditions. There is also Active-Drive Lock for the rear differential and Selec-Speed control which acts just like cruise control for crawling.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee would make an excellent winter driver and is an all-round decent SUV. Visit Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 915 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON  L7N 3V8 to take a test drive.
