If you’re in the market for a nice new 2017 Nissan GT-R, the Japanese automaker has just added a sweetener. Buy this fast Nissan between November 14, 2016 and March 31, 2017 and you can qualify for a day of training at the Virginia International Raceway in the U.S.

The track day will allow new owners to get to grips with their new car and offer the opportunity to learn how to control that power. It is also a great excuse to push the GT-R further than most of us would dare to while on the road too.

The track day will be in your own car, which might not suit everyone. It’s a long drive south for a start but it would be the perfect time to get in tune with your new sports car. It will need to have been run-in first but once that’s done, it is fair game for the track.

The good news is that Nissan will maintain the manufacturer warranty during the day and afterwards, so hooning it around the track for a day will not void anything or compromise any future claims should there be any.

"The GT-R is one of the most iconic and impressive sports cars on the market today, but there are very few places to explore the vehicle's full potential in a safe, controlled and supervised situation," said Eric Ledieu, director, sports car marketing, Nissan North America. "It made sense to link our owners with a track like Virginia International Raceway for a world-class driving experience in a responsible fashion."

2017 Nissan GT-R
The 2017 Nissan GT-R got quite the makeover for its seventh edition. A stiffer chassis, adjusted suspension, new titanium exhaust, more boost pressure, new exterior styling, new wheels and more are what you’re buying here.

The styling is as brash as ever and I think it looks fantastic. More exterior trim, a new front grille, new stiffer hood, new front splitter, new sills, new C-pillar and a new rear diffuser are just some of the aero-effective goodness that add drivability as well as aesthetic appeal.

Inside, the shift paddles have moved to the rear of the steering wheel. A new touchscreen sits in the centre stack, new bolsters in the seats hold you more in place and switchgear has reduced. There are now only 11 switches, down from 27 apparently.

The engine is largely the same although output has been boosted by 20 hp. The twin turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine delivers 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to all wheels through a computerized drive system that has a huge range of tunable settings, or some pre-set ones.

All these changes combine to make the 2017 Nissan GT-R even more awesome than previous models. Given how monumentally popular those were, we think this model will be very hard to come by soon.
