Ford Ranger test video released

If you’re considering the upcoming light truck from Ford, but aren’t yet sure, maybe this video will help. It showcases the 2019 Ford Ranger testing at the automaker’s Michigan location. The results are pretty impressive!

The Ford Michigan Proving Grounds are where all vehicles manufactured there are tested. The company can replicate many different terrains and situations to accurately measure how a vehicle copes. It is an essential part of the design and pre-production process and ensures all vehicles are genuinely able to manage the kinds of environments they are likely to come up against for real.

2019 Ford Ranger
As you may have guessed from the volume of coverage the 2019 Ford Ranger is getting, I am quite excited about this new truck. It is smaller and more practical than an F-150 and yet still capable of hauling and towing modest loads. It is also much more than just a mini-F-150 though.

Even though it isn’t due until January 2019, hype is steadily growing. The modified global Ranger platform is very popular in Europe and Australia and is now coming back to North America after a long absence. Modifications are minor, mainly to comply with US regulations so the Ranger you see abroad is close to the one you’re going to see here.

The Ranger will come as a SuperCab or SuperCrew and include a load bed capable of most light duties. Inside, the cabin looks spacious and well equipped. Depending on whether you choose the XL, XLT or Lariat, you will get all manner of technology including 4G WiFi, an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Ford+Alexa.

We do expect a small selection of engines but so far Ford have only said the 2.3-litre EcoBoost will feature. It is expected to generate around 250 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque and connect to Ford’s 10 speed automatic transmission. Both RWD and AWD options will be available.

Opt for the FX4 Off-Road Package and you will get full time 4x4, upgraded tires, tuned shocks and suspension, bash plates and Ford's Terrain Management System and Trail Control.

Having seen the publicity shots provided by Ford and the various videos, including this one, gives me confidence in the 2019 Ford Ranger. The preparation looks to have been thorough and having taken an existing global model with a proven pedigree means there should ne no teething troubles you often get with new models. I cannot wait!
